BJP is India’s Today & Tomorrow

If I were asked to describe India’s educated, privileged, intellectuals [pseudo & real], liberals, feminists & entitled youth in ‘two words’, it’ll have to be - Delusional Egotists. 

Full Disclosure: I’m also one of the above. I’m a pseudo-intellectual, foreign-educated, relatively privileged, elder millennial. Then, why the hell I’m not a Delusional Egotist - because life has taught me that even after all my privileges & knowledge, I’m just an ordinary human whose life or death will not make the tiniest dent on the universe. Once anyone knows & survives that heartbreaking fact, it fills mind & heart with ‘detachment’ and detachment leads to striking clarity. 

Let’s roll back to the hot topic.

Ever since Modi-led BJP came into power in 2014 till the elections results in 2019, I’ve sat, walked, traveled, lay in bed, shared food, scotch, hash and intense conversations with all the above humans. They all truly believed all the major BJP fuck ups including the rise of wicked Hindu nationalism, despicable Demonetisation, awful GST implementation, mindless minority-lynching, death of dissent & abortion of freedom of speech — will bury BJP in 2019. All these people firmly believed that BJP is vicious, fascist, draconian, and quickly converting India into an - intolerant, Hindu-nazi State. 

All of the above concerns are deeply troublesome like a 3-year-old snorting cocaine for breakfast - but BJP is not the ‘mother’ of all those big fat troubles. 

BJP is just a shopkeeper. Modi is just a salesman.

BJP is the liquor shop - is the gun shop - is the drug dealer - is the dirty pimp - is the Hindu god-statue seller - is the substandard Make-in-India product promoter - and BJP is many more spectacularly monstrous things, but it’s not the mother of India’s problems, it’s just a good ol’ shopkeeper, it is ‘Selling what Sells’

I will write that again for the Impact - BJP is

Political parties are exactly like salesmen & shopkeepers. Then there are some shops [parties] that are Grand - think Coke & Pepsi - think Amazon & Flipkart - think Apple & Microsoft - think McDonald’s & KFC - think Zara & H&M - think Uber & Ola. Now think - BJP & Congress. 

The same way McDonald’s, Amazon, Apple, Zara & Coke can’t force you to buy a product that doesn’t appeal to you, Saffron Boys of BJP can’t sell the buyers - 1.37 billion Indian Citizens - what they don’t like.

Like BJP, Hitler’s party came into power via public mandate. Consider this: If a shopkeeper legally sells guns, cigarettes, whisky, unhealthy burgers & colas, overpriced clothes & computers, and under-priced products with free home delivery, would you blame them. Alright, you can surely blame them & protest against them but can you put the CEOs & employees of Zara, KFC, Apple, Amazon, Uber in jail and replace them with someone else. Surely, you can’t put all these people in jail, & neither can you replace them. 

Hitler didn’t turn Germany into a Jew-Haters. The difficult truth is - a massive chunk of German Citizens, at that time in history, were already jew-haters. Like a great salesman, Hitler latched onto the opportunity. He became the mobilizer who brought all the Jew-haters together & made them realize that it’s not awful to hate other communities. Then he convinced them that it was also alright to persecute and execute those people they don’t like.

Let’s get back to ground zero: India.

Congress was the Walmart - the Goliath of Shops - in India for 67 years since Independence. But even the Goliath falls someday. Like Nokia, Congress’s fall from grace was an unparalleled spectacle like 9/11. Like Nokia, Congress failed to evolve with the changing market demands. Like Nokia, they pitched the old salesman - son of the Gandhi family - to the market, but refused to realize or accept that the old flagship product [Secular & Tolerant India] was no longer in demand as the quality or appeal of the product & salesman [Rahul Gandhi] wasn’t giving the buyers orgasms anymore.  

Like Apple & Samsung filled the void left by Nokia, BJP picked up the market left open by Congress’s demise. Their top salesman [Modi] & product [absolute Nationalism & Hindus-first] made a viagra-like impact - the buyers were totally ‘turned on’.

BJP didn’t ‘create’ a new ‘market or products’, they are selling to the old market, but they’ve made products sexier & irresistible. Now, the buyers don’t want to buy whatever Congress is selling anymore. 

At this point, the ‘Delusional Egotist’ people are united in stating that though BJP didn’t ‘create’ a new market, BJP is doubtlessly selling new - sexier & irresistible - products: Aggressive Intolerance & Hindutva. And if Congress comes back into power, the new products - Aggressive Intolerance & Hindutva - will go away and bring India back to good ol’ days of ‘Secularism and Tolerance’. 

There are two major problems with this assertion.

First Assertion - India before BJP was Secular & Tolerant. It wasn’t. ‘Never’ is the key word here. India has always been casteist, classist & racist. I’ve [like thousands of journalists & writers] written extensively about all that for a decade & I’ll not be getting into that ‘proven beyond doubt’ aspect in this letter [article]. P.S. Go walk the streets of New Delhi [or wherever you’re] for a few hours at night, and all the boxes will be checked [casteist, classist & racist] emphatically.

Second Assertion - If Congress comes back into power, the new products - Aggressive Intolerance & Hindutva - will go away. This is like saying in countries/cities, where liquor, guns, drugs, beef, Facebook, Porn, homosexuality, firecrackers, prostitution are banned, no one does all those things. Most of the stated things are banned in North Korea, India, and China, but all of that is rampant as people find alternatives all the time. Now that Indians are hooked to BJP’s salesman & products, they’re already addicts, who are no longer interested in going Sober [Secular & Tolerant]

The ‘Delusional Egotist’ people think, arrogantly, that they ‘represent & reflect’ what India wants & stands for - that’s pure elitist ego. The Delusional Egotists are a minuscule part of India. They’re like Giraffes; they stand out due to their big necks & cool skin design, and whenever they make an appearance, everyone stops to look at them. This makes them feels they’re Important, but that’s another ‘Delusional Egotist’ notion. If anything, Delusional Egotists are Impotent.

Fact: There are only 97 thousand giraffes in the world. Most of the regular humans are like abundant Sheep, Horses, Chickens, and Cows. There are billions of them in India in the avatar of Humans & they’re in love with BJP.

And when one human counts for one vote, the giraffes may think they wield superpowers, but ultimately their vote totals to 97 thousand. And that isn’t going to make Congress win anything. And even if when Congress wins again in say 5 or 10 years [anti-incumbency is unavoidable], it will not change India.

India is BJP & it will continue to be BJP for generations to come. The only way to change India is innovative salesmanship & packaging secular products in a manner that appeals to the 1.37 billion Indians. 

On 1st June 2019, Congress neither has the Salesmanship or the Products that are giving Indians mental or physical orgasms.
