Adnan Syed killed his Girlfriend Hae Min Lee on 13th Jan 1999?

Imagine your girlfriend is dead.

How would you feel if you were handcuffed, arrested, shoved into a cop-car & kicked into a stinking jail cell for 23 hours, where you’re made to eat rotten food & share a doorless-flushless toilet with psychopaths, child molesters, mass-murderers, & rapists?

Reason: Mistakenly arrested for murdering your girlfriend.

Now imagine, those 23 hours turn into 23 years.

Nothing proves 17-year-old Adnan Syed killed his ex-girlfriend on 13th January 1999. There was no physical evidence, eye-witness, or forensic report linking him to the crime scene, but fuck evidence — Adnan was convicted & rotted in jail for 23 years in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

On 11th October 2022, Adnan, 41, was set free after prosecutors dropped all charges as no DNA evidence linked Adnan to the murder of Hae Min Lee.

It took these cuntface cucks 23 years to figure out that Adnan didn’t kill Hae Min Lee when Asia McClain had signed a bloody affidavit 23 years ago stating Adnan was with her at the school library between 2:15pm & 2:36pm on January 13th 1999. 2.15pm-2.36pm happens to be the official timeline when Hae was getting strangled & murdered. But Adnan’s lawyer, Christina Gutierrez, didn’t even bother to get Asia McClain to testify during the trial.

Fuck me & Kill me & don’t even say sorry!

When in the winters of 2014, my 2012’s best friend ‘H’ sold me this podcast — Serial, I wasn’t even sure what a podcast meant. But her saleswoman genius made me reluctantly download it on the iPod. The moment I heard Sarah Koenig [narrator] speak, I was hooked.

By the end of the 12th & final episode, I was convinced Adnan deserves a re-trial as the levels of fuck ups in the original trial broke all the Guinness World Records.

That was 2015 Adnan had already been in jail for 16 years.

In May 2015, I wrote an imploring article S.E.R.I.A.L : Sex, Love, MURDER, that chronicled this murder case’s timeline. I ended it with a plea — it’s about time — Adnan got justice.

But I soon realized I know jacknothing about the US Criminal Justice System. Once you’re convicted, you’re toast. And if your folks are migrant Paki-Muslims, you’re buried dead naked.

But I was born with a deadly disorder that humans call Hope.

November 2015 When a judge granted Adnan a new hearing, I jumped so high that I slammed my head into a ceiling fan in full swing. I survived after a few stitches on the scalp.

June 2016 A judge granted Adnan a new trial. I was so ecstatic — I ran so hard that I almost got killed by a monster trailer truck on the highway. Adnan’s lawyers were feeling lucky, so they asked for Adnan to be released on bail — Judge smirked & said, “Fuck, no.”

2018 Maryland Court of Special Appeals cancelled his conviction stating that — “An LSD-addict schizophrenic squirrel would’ve been infinitely more competent than Adnan’s lawyer was.” Intriguingly, Adnan still wasn’t released.

2019 Rich people’s television network — HBO released a 4-part documentary — The Case Against Adnan Syed. The documentary revealed [yet again] that DNA tests did not find Adnan’s DNA on Hae Min Lee’s body or belongings.

It seemed like all the doors were opening for Adnan’s release. That was a mirage.

I headbutted a banyan tree when Maryland’s highest court — Court of Appeals, ruled in a 4-to-3 decision that though the original defense lawyer was a “moron,” Adnan was not “prejudiced” by her moronicness.

Adnan’s new trial was denied, and his conviction was uncancelled

This made me run straight to the shadiest dance bar in Paharganj. I kept drinking for weeks till I ran out of all my alimony money.

With time I overcame my drinking problems & deadly disorder Hope. The world, too, forgot about Adnan as it got busy for 2 years with a Mexican beer virus that killed a few million humans.

March 2022 While I wasn’t paying attention, prosecutors agreed to new DNA testing.

14th Sept 2022 Prosecutors informed the judge that an investigation had uncovered the potential involvement of two alternative suspects. Voila!

Marilyn J. Mosby, the state’s attorney for Baltimore City, said

“After a nearly yearlong investigation reviewing the facts of this case, Adnan deserves a new trial where he is adequately represented and the latest evidence can be presented.”

19th Sept 2022 Judge Melissa M. Phinn again cancelled the conviction in the interests of justice & fairness.

This time Adnan was really released and served home detention while awaiting word on whether prosecutors would proceed with a new trial.

11th Oct 2022 Prosecutors dropped the charges against Adnan as there was no DNA evidence linking Adnan to the murder.

25th Oct 2022 Though Adnan is free now, his troubles still aren’t over. At this stage, Hae Min Lee’s family is unhappy with Adnan’s release. They want either Adnan or whosoever the real murderer is in jail. Even after 23 years, they want blood for blood. As they say, when there’s blood on the streets, someone’s gotta go to jail.

Strangely — Murder is a lot like a star-crossed Love Story. Sometimes, you never get closure.

I often wonder where the real killer is? Perhaps he [or she] is laughing her ass off while sipping Pina Coladas on a pretty beach in Maldives.

Am I dead certain that Adnan didn’t kill Hae?

Absolutely not. But unless there’s real proof that he did kill her, he can’t be in prison. And he’s already been in prison for 23 goddamn years. It’s insane. Even if Adnan killed Hae, he’s done enough time to be released & rehabilitated into the society and be free to do whatever his heart wants.

Question: If Adnan didn’t kill Hae Min Lee on 13th January 1999, who the fuck did?

Hae Min Lee surely knows who strangled her to death. But dead betches don't speak.

Or do they?

  2. I'm breaking my unspoken rule never responding to a comment on my 'letters' [or 'articles' as humans call 'em]. There are two reasons to break it: One is obvious, you're my real friend whom I love. Two: I really want every human to listen to Serial Podcast Season 1 - not for Adnan or even for Justice, but listen to it because it shows humans have this magical ability to rise about all the bullshit & limitations that we're born with and create-&-do something truly surreal.
